Christmas Shopping & January Sales in Dublin City Centre
Treat yourself to a festive stay in Dublin’s best-located hotel, right in the heart of the Temple Bar district and just minutes’ walk from the very best Christmas shopping, January sales, and retail therapy the city has to offer.
Grafton Street (0.5km)
Just a two-minute stroll from our doorstep, Grafton Street is Dublin’s most iconic shopping street and a must-visit during the festive season. Beautifully lit at Christmas and buzzing during the post-Christmas January sales, it is home to a mix of luxury, lifestyle and high-street brands alongside cafés, restaurants and talented street performers.
Shops include Brown Thomas, & Other Stories, The White Company, Pandora, Foot Locker, Sculpted by Aimee, and many more, making it the perfect place to find gifts — or snap up New Year bargains.
At the top of Grafton Street you’ll find St Stephen’s Green Shopping Centre, offering a wide variety of stores under one roof, including TK Maxx, Flying Tiger, Boots, and a selection of independent retailers — ideal for all-weather shopping during the January sales.
George’s Street Arcade (0.6km)
Just off Grafton Street, George’s Street Arcade is one of Europe’s oldest purpose-built shopping arcades and a true Dublin gem. With its Victorian charm, it’s home to an eclectic mix of independent boutiques, vintage clothing stores, jewellery shops, record stores and cafés. It’s the perfect place to discover unique gifts, handmade items and one-of-a-kind finds during both Christmas shopping and the January sales.
Dawson Street – A Cheeky Tipple Break (0.7km)
Just around the corner from Grafton Street, Dawson Street is the ideal spot to take a well-earned break from shopping. Lined with traditional pubs, stylish cocktail bars and cosy spots to warm up, it’s perfect for a cheeky tipple, festive cocktail or relaxing glass of wine before heading back out to the shops. BESTSELLER Dublin is our favourite wine cafe, which used to be a bible book store. A great way to break up a busy day of retail therapy.
Henry Street (0.8km)
One of Dublin’s oldest and busiest shopping districts, Henry Street is just a 10-minute walk from the hotel and is a hotspot for some of the city’s best January sales. Highlights include the iconic Arnotts Department Store, Ireland’s oldest and largest, alongside Penneys, Zara, H&M, JD Sports, and the new Normal store, ideal for affordable gifts, beauty buys, household items and New Year essentials.
Henry Street is also home to the Ilac Shopping Centre and Jervis Street Shopping Centre, offering even more choice in a compact area. Just off Henry Street, the historic Moore Street market adds a uniquely local experience, with stalls selling fresh produce, clothing, flowers and great-value finds.
The Liberties Market (2km)
One of Dublin’s longest-running markets, The Liberties Market is steeped in heritage and full of character. A lively and authentic shopping experience, it’s an excellent spot for bargain hunting both during Christmas and throughout January.
Blackrock Market – “Through the Archway”
DART from Tara Street (approx. 30 minutes)
Located in the heart of Blackrock village, Blackrock Market has been supporting local and independent businesses since 1986. This vibrant, family-run market features over 30 stalls offering antiques, bric-a-brac, clothing, homeware and a fantastic selection of food stalls and cafés.
Dún Laoghaire People’s Park Market
DART from Tara Street (approx. 45 minutes)
Held every Sunday, this popular market hosts over 50 vendors selling hot food, baked goods, art, crafts, artisan food products and seasonal local produce — perfect for a relaxed winter day out by the sea.
